January 17 is the Day of Children Inventors

Once an eleven-year-old boy named Frank Epperson accidentally left a glass of lemonade on the street. It was winter and the day was frosty. It later made him very rich. In the morning, the boy naturally found his forgotten glass frozen, but it was no less interesting. This discovery, unusual for him at the time, became the beginning of the creation of "fruit ice", when at the age of 18 he came up with the idea of producing frozen lemonade.

Throughout human history, the ingenuity of the younger generation, especially children, has more than once merited close attention. This is not surprising, because their view of objects and situations that are common to us is still completely unusual. They may well notice something that we, for one reason or another, have simply ignored. Children are excellent inventors.

For example, the first trampoline was invented by a 16-year-old boy named John Nissen from Iowa in 1930. One day he decided to stretch an army-style tarpaulin with rubber shock absorbers over an iron frame just to jump for fun. Why didn't those who call themselves adults take care of this?

Given the indisputable facts of children's ingenuity, the idea of an annual Children's Inventors' Day arose in the international community. The date of this calendar event was chosen to be the date of birth of Benjamin Franklin - January 17. He was born on Sunday, January 17, 1706 in Boston, Massachusetts, which was then a British colony. He is better known to us as one of the founding fathers of the United States of America, whom you see on the hundred dollar bill of US currency. It is interesting that Benjamin Franklin was the only one of the founding fathers who sealed with his signature all three of the most important historical documents that are the basis of such an independent state, which today is the United States of America.

These are the US Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Versailles Peace Treaty of 1783, formally finalizing the war for the independence of the thirteen British colonies in North America from Great Britain.

Of course, he did not immediately become a famous American politician, diplomat, encyclopedist and writer. Since childhood, Benjamin Franklin was quite inventive, which could not but be reflected in his successful career. For example, it was he who became one of the developers of the design of the Great Seal of the United States.

When he was 12 years old, he invented a device for faster swimming, he invented flippers. He owns one of the patents for a rocking chair and an economical small-sized stove for the house, which was named the Franklin stove. At a more mature age, it was he who proposed the notation "+" and "-" for electrically charged states, put forward the idea of an electric motor and demonstrated a real "electric wheel" that rotated under the influence of electrostatic forces.

Children's ingenuity is wonderful. For example, in 1824, a 15-year-old boy named Louis Braille, whose father was an ordinary shoemaker, invented and implemented a typeface for visually impaired and blind people. This font is named after him - the Braille font. A certain Joseph Armand Bombardier became famous for the fact that, at the age of 15, he turned an old Ford car into a type of transport, which is now known to us as a snowmobile.History knows many examples of inventions in which children played one of the key roles.

Be inventive!
